The teaching of history gives children an awareness of life in the past and how that affects life today. Children will study units of history at Fir Bank ranging from ‘Ancient Greece’ to ‘What was Oldham like in Roman times?’ A local study helps them to develop their skills of research and investigation.
Through learning about other places, children gain a better understanding of the world in which we live. Geographical skills are taught within integrated topics, such as Homes, or a local study, and linked to other areas of the curriculum. Children develop their skills through the study of local, European and World places.
