Our P.E. programme is made up of elements of gymnastics, dance, athletics, games skills and swimming. There will be opportunities at Key Stage 2 for more adventurous outdoor activities such as orienteering. Through P.E. we foster enjoyment and the development of individual skills and co-operation within a team. Children in Year 3 are given the opportunity to learn swimming at Royton Pool. We are part of the School Sports Partnership and regularly meet with other local Primary schools to develop specific sport skills and teamwork. In the past we have also benefited from Rugby, Cricket and Dance coaching from the Sports Development Service.
All children are expected to wear suitable clothing for PE. This would be:
- White T-shirt and green or black shorts/leotards
- Socks and pumps for indoor activities
- Warmer clothing e.g. tracksuit and trainers or football boots for outdoors
It is helpful if children can keep their P.E. kit in a drawstring bag. For safety reasons watches must be removed before P.E. lessons and children with long hair must have it tied back. Earrings must be removed or covered with tape.
