Opportunities for first hand experiences and practical activities help children to form a sound scientific understanding. We encourage children to test out their ideas and questions and so develop the ability to apply scientific skills and concepts to solve problems. They use a wide range of instruments and begin to develop an enquiry-based approach to learning. To ensure that concepts are developed and thoroughly explored they are revisited several times during each Key Stage.
Through a range of topics, children will learn about
- living things and life processes
- materials and their properties
- physical processes
